The European alternative to Google Drive
Binadit Drive keeps your files on a server in the Netherlands and shows them in Finder and File Explorer as if they were on your computer. With team folders, share links, versions and documents in the browser.
Why companies look for an alternative
Files at an American company
Google Drive is run by Google, to which the US Cloud Act applies.
Google's own formats
Docs, Sheets and Slides are links to Google's servers, not files you can take with you.
Storage per person
Storage comes with each user's plan, so space is spread over people instead of shared by the company.
Binadit Drive and Google Drive
Side by side, for everyday work with files.
| Aspect | Binadit Drive | Google Drive |
|---|---|---|
| Company and law | Binadit B.V., Rotterdam, under European law | Google LLC, United States |
| On your computer | Files on demand in Finder and File Explorer, for macOS, Windows and Linux | Google Drive for desktop, macOS and Windows |
| Shared folders | Team folders with groups, guests from outside, retention periods and legal hold | Shared drives |
| Documents | Ordinary .docx, .xlsx and .pptx files, edited together in the browser with Office | Google's own formats in Docs, Sheets and Slides |
| Storage | One pool per company, priced by size | Per user, with the Workspace plan |
| Receiving files | Binadit Receive: anyone sends you files, encrypted in their browser | File requests through Google Forms |
How the switch works
-
Plan the folders
Personal files go to each person's drive, shared drives become team folders.
-
Move the files
We help you copy the files from Google Drive, with the folder structure intact. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides are exported as Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.
-
Install the app
Drive for macOS, Windows and Linux puts everything back in Finder and File Explorer.
When Google Drive fits better
If your team writes mostly in Google Docs and relies on its comments and suggestions in real time, Google Drive is the more familiar place. Binadit Drive is for companies that want ordinary files, in Europe.
