Working in Conserio

Integrations and apps

Messages from other systems in Conserio, bots and apps.

Applies to: macOS, Windows

This manual is available in English and Dutch.

On the outside, Conserio speaks Slack’s language. An integration that works with Slack usually works with Conserio by changing only an address, or an address and a token. You manage apps and webhooks in the desktop app under Preferences, tab Apps. Only admins of the company see the buttons to create something there.

Notifications from other systems: webhooks

Monitoring, CI and automation tools (Uptime Kuma, Grafana, Prometheus Alertmanager, GitHub Actions, n8n, Jenkins, Zabbix and many others) send their notifications to a webhook.

  1. Open Preferences, Apps, and under Webhooks choose the channel where the notifications should go. Give the webhook a name, for example “Uptime Kuma”.
  2. You see two addresses, only once. Copy the Slack address (it ends in /api/slack/hooks/…).
  3. Paste that address into the tool, where the Slack webhook URL was. Nothing else changes.
  4. Send a test notification from the tool.

A notification appears as a card: a heading, text, fields in two columns, optionally an image and link buttons, and a coloured stripe on the left. Green, orange and red follow Conserio’s colours. A webhook belongs to one channel; create one per channel.

Your own apps and bots

Does your team have its own Slack app, for example a bot that posts new leads with Send and Discard buttons? It moves over without changing its code.

  1. Choose New app, or Import Slack manifest and paste the App Manifest (YAML or JSON) from api.slack.com/apps. Name, Request URL, slash commands and events come along.
  2. After Create app you see the Base URL, the Bot token and the Signing secret once. Copy them right away with Copy.
  3. Under Edit, choose the Channels the app may use. An app only sees and does something in those channels.
  4. Set the base URL, token and signing secret in the app’s settings. With Bolt and the Slack SDK that is usually an environment variable.

What an app can do:

  • post, update and delete messages, also in a thread;
  • cards with buttons; a click goes to the app’s Request URL, signed like Slack, and the app can then update the message;
  • Slash commands: a colleague types for example /lead Van Dijk in the message field; only they see the app’s direct answer;
  • Events: messages, mentions of the app, reactions and new members;
  • add reactions and read channels, messages and users.

Does the app have no public address, for example because it runs in your own network? Turn on Own connection (Socket Mode). The app then connects to Conserio itself.

What does not work

  • Official “Add to Slack” apps from other companies, such as those of Jira Cloud, Google Drive, Sentry or Zoom. They install themselves through Slack. Nearly all of them also offer a plain Slack webhook; use that with Conserio’s Slack address.
  • Messages only one person sees, pop-up forms and file uploads by an app. These come later.
  • On iPhone, iPad and Android you see cards and buttons work, but managing apps and typing slash commands is desktop only.

A step-by-step guide per tool, for whoever sets up the integrations, is in the migration guide “Your Slack integrations in Conserio”.
