Help with your mail accounts, downloads and Northmail on your devices.

iPhone and iPad testing

Northmail is currently available to invited TestFlight testers. Install TestFlight from Apple, accept your invitation and open Northmail. Adding an external tester does not make a build available until Apple approves that beta.

Bring accounts from your Mac

Use Northmail 0.1.15 or newer on the Mac, the same Apple Account on your devices, and enable iCloud Drive and Passwords & Keychain. Open Northmail on both devices. In Settings, keep “Share accounts and settings” enabled and check the iCloud status. “Sync accounts now” starts a new exchange. Delivery can take time and requires iCloud availability.

Password-based accounts can use shared iCloud Keychain sign-in. Google authorizations are not copied between devices. Native Google sign-in is not available in the first mobile beta.

Add an account yourself

Choose Add account and enter your address. You can find settings automatically or choose Binadit Workspace/JMAP, Exchange, IMAP or Apple iCloud Mail. Exchange expects the server hostname. iCloud Mail requires an Apple app-specific password, not your normal Apple password. Ask your mail administrator which authentication your server supports.

Control downloads and storage

Mobile downloads default to one month and a 1 GB mail cache. In Settings you can select one week, one month, three months or six months per account and change the cache limit. Reducing the period removes eligible local copies; server mail stays in place. Drafts and unfinished operations are protected. Search currently covers downloaded mail.

Remove an account

In mobile build 2 or newer, use Settings, Accounts, Remove account. Read the confirmation: local unsent content may be lost. If account sharing is on, removal propagates to other devices sharing the account. Turn off sharing before removal if you want to keep the account on those devices. Your provider account and server messages are not deleted. In the first mobile build, manage shared accounts from the Mac.

Current mobile limitations

The first beta supports mail reading, writing, replies, drafts, flags, archive and delete. Native Google sign-in, attachment preview/sharing, adding attachments, server search, and calendar/contact/task screens are not yet available. Synchronization runs while the app is active; closed-app push notifications are not provided.

Privacy

Read the Northmail privacy policy and Binadit company privacy policy. Northmail connects directly to the mail providers you select. Remote images are blocked until you choose to load them.
